I have just completed my 9th year of teaching in Spring 2009, in which I have mostly taught Mathematics as well as Language Arts, History, and Religion. My BS in Elementary Education along with my teaching minor in Math, has enabled me to gain an understanding of not only math, but also the average student as well; no matter what the age. As a Wesleyan graduate, I was interested in curriculum and Graphics and found myself working shortly there after in a youth-centered non-profit doing design work. I have several degrees and a teaching certification in Art. I have learned a great deal about designing and working with youth. I am a second year UW Madison student pursuing a math degree. I have completed Calculus 1, Calculus 222, Calculus 234, Calculus 3 based engineering statistics, and Actuarial Science (a class designed to prepare actuarial students for the P exam). Rather than stressing rote memorization, I believe it is more important to relate overall concepts in a "partnering" style.
