I believe in using the environment and the interests of the child to teach any subject. It is important to capture the interest of the child so they are motivated to learn. I graduated from Illinois State University in 2009 with a BS in Biological Sciences and I am currently working towards my certificate in teaching secondary education. I have experience teaching in lab settings, community college classrooms as well as tutoring at the high school and middle school level.

I believe that each and every student has an ability to learn and it is necessary to find a method of teaching conducive to the individual. For example, I was a student that learned though hands on activities and writing. Having a teacher stand and lecture never appealed to me. Other children, and adults, may be more apt to retain through reading or repetition. I have really enjoyed teaching through coaching. Throughout my coaching career, I have worked with all different types of athletes who each learn things a little bit differently. Because of this, I have been able to practice presenting information in lots of different ways in order to get all types of learners to understand the material.
As a student-athlete at Illinois State University, I learned many invaluable skills.
