Last May I graduated from Skidmore College with a degree in history. My passion for history has been driven by my voracious appetite for knowledge. Writing, reading, and critical thinking are of the utmost importance to me. Education is not only a means of acquiring future jobs but of a creating a nation of critical thinkers. Growing up I dealt with dyslexia. I understand that each and every kid has a different learning style and not one style is better then the rest. My goal is to make learning as much fun as possible by pin-pointing the learning style of the student and finding ways to make learning more interesting. While I was an undergraduate, volunteering was very important to me. One of the places I volunteered was an after school program for children who live in Hamilton Hill. While I volunteered there I helped many of them with there homework as well as extra reading and writing to help improve those skills. I found that my psychology major as well as my education and english minors were very useful and helpful to help tutor in all subjects. I love working with children. I was involved in girl scouts from first grade all the way to 12th grade and in those years I learned a lot of leadership skills.
