Drawing is one of my top subjects!

I began teaching Art to middle school students within the public school system in 1989. I began working with elementary grades in 1991. I began to pursue a master's degree in Education in 2007 through the University of Phoenix (UoP). The online experience and consistent communication with my instructors and classmates were invaluable. I have been able to perfect my writing, computer proficiency, and research skills through the various assignments required in the UoP teacher education program.
I have always believed in "connecting the dots." Knowledge and learning cannot be strictly confined to subject-area teaching. I have been tutoring ever since elementary school. Since I was the only one that knew how to read, I had to assist in the others' learning of Phonetic sounds. I've also tutored fellow classmates in middle school, high school, and college. If I don't know how to approach a certain topic, I ask for the assistance of some of my former professors because they know I'm trying to help other students.

A Little Bit About Me...

My goal as a teacher is to help children appreciate learning and have fun while doing. I beleive that we all learn in different ways and a person should use a learning strategy that works best for them. I am available to help your child succeed academically. I have had much experience working with children of all ages in the Education Field as a Primary Teacher for Head Start and CIS after school program. I know that this is what I have been called to do and I enjoy doing.
I have worked in the Education field for 9 years. I started off as a substitute teacher and later became a "permanent substitute" in 2002. In this same year, I also became a class monitor for Psycho-Edu with the Johnson Co. School System. These jobs both required me to help teach elementary students in every subject.
