During my time at University of Maryland, I thoroughly enjoyed my courses in mathematics which included Calculus II & III, Ordinary Differential Equations, Partial Differential Equations, Linear Algebra, Applications with Linear Algebra and Complex Numbers while receiving a BS in Electrical Engineering. I am an applied researcher. I develop curriculum materials (math and physics) based on a theory of how the human mind creates knowledge about propertied objects (physical and mental such as numbers, etc) that I have created. For the last 25 years I have taught Math and Physics in HS and college. As a graduate student at the University of Iowa I tutored for New Dimensions in Learning, a program set-up for students who were the first in their family to go to college.
I start from the knowledge the students bring into the classroom (or tutoring session), and by careful questioning and providing experiences (examples) and counterexamples, guide them to transform it into what we deem is the appropriate knowledge.
