A Little Bit About Me...

I have spent the better part of the past 12 years teaching grammar, creative writing, literature, and basic English structure. I have my BFA in Creative Writing and my BA in English from Arkansas Tech University, and I have my MA in English from Highlands University. I have taught all levels of college composition, creative writing, and American Lit. Also, I have taught English at the high school level. Also, I have a minor in American History.
I believe in personal interaction with students – making them write, making them read – going over every detail, looking at the issues (grammar, punctuation, syntax, coherent structure (logic, unity, transitions, parallelism,)) and then re-writing and re-reading. Each student is a unique individual who needs a secure, caring, and stimulating atmosphere in which to mature emotionally, physically and socially. As a potential educator, it is my responsibility to help every student meet his or her fullest potential by providing an environment that would allow them to grow. There are three elements that I believe are conducive to establishing such an environment, (1) the Instructor acting as a guide, (2) allowing the student’s curiosity about the subject matter direct his/her style of learning and (3) promoting respect for all things and all people.
