While I was in high school, I took honors courses and graduated with a 4.0 GPA. I tutored an 8th grade-9th grade boy in TCAPS preparation and helped him complete homework in Math (pre-algebra, algebra, and pre-geometry), Science (biology), and English. I have wanted to help others learn for as long as I can remember; even as early as the fourth grade I was helping my classmates with assignments. I have always loved learning and helping others to learn. I earned a BS in Psychology in college so I would have a better understanding of how the mind works and learns. A Little Bit About Me...

I enjoy working with students to help them understand biology and how they participate in a biological world. I believe that the most important concept in teaching is engagement with the student. I strive to engage students in biology by exploring how biological concepts relate to the students life. Genetic diseases, growth and development, and the environment are biological topics that students already participate in; and I strive to teach by relating these topics to the student’s own life.

I ask a lot of questions to get the students thinking. I believe in teaching young people and the adults I have worked with to think critically fist. Then I work with them on being able to articulate and write their ideas down...subject matter follows naturally if they have the confidence and can just think for themselves not just spit back facts and what others want to hear.
