Once the children learn to apply the proper steps to accomplish the task at hand, the feeling of accomplishment drives them to continue on their own.

I enjoy watching students grasp the scientific method as it is something that comes naturally to most people if put in the right context. Science is rewarding to teach because it incorporates other disciplines like math. I often receive comments about my effective teaching style. I have found that every student has the potential to learn and improve upon their situation if given the right opportunities, surroundings, and support. I love the "lighbulb" look on a child's face which comes not only from "getting it" after a struggle, but also from the boost that moment brings to their self-confidence. Suddenly, with one success, other successes seem possible again. I love to teach and see the light go on in a child's head as he or she begins to understand. It is a great joy to see them succeed.
