Having assisted with homeschooling my brother for the last five years, I have extensive experience in tutoring. I have provided tutoring services in a wide variety of high school level classes ranging from English to mathematics to science. It definitely is important to combine styles. I use direct instruction, as well as guided instruction, and groupwork. It is also important to get to know your students and their specific learning styles. It is helpful to tap into their multiple intelligences and to present information in multiple ways.

I am an upcoming May 2006 graduate from Allegheny College, majoring in English. Given my background at a small, liberal arts college and being a former biochemistry major, I have a great understanding of language arts, math and science. I have completed a 60 page research project as well completed numerous written projects throughout my college career, that have undoubtedly strengthened my writing skills.
