A Little Bit About Me...

My teaching style is eclectic, drawing from a variety of instructional methods according to the immediate needs of my student. I look for the strengths, not only academic, but also social and personal, in every student. I also assess a student’s needs both formally and informally to determine areas of need and whether we are making progress in those areas. I strive to engage learners in the material and hope to make them independent learners, able to further develop their skills even when I am not with them.
I eight years of experience teaching English as a Second Language in elementary school and middle school. I feel that for any individual who chooses to learn something new, the biggest key to their success is motivation and their personal interest in what they are looking to learn. I also recognize that many students (especially young learners) are guided to study various lessons/fields by parents/educators and they need to find what they are being guided to study interesting in some way. A Little Bit About Me...

Many teachers will say the same thing, that they love teaching and it is only outside factors that will disrupt a class and make it difficult for some students to learn. I delight in helping students to acquire new knowledge and there is satisfaction in having students thank the teacher after a class. I like to work with small groups and encourage these groups to explore and teach each other from my leading. Sometimes however, extraneous issues prevent students from learning adequately at school and I welcome the opportunity to supplement this education with one on one or group tutoring.
I was raised as a bilingual speaker, Italian & English, and was always fascinated by the workings of language.
