As a Canisius College graduate, I was very motivated to practice different teaching approaches. With my passion to incorporate/integrate technology into my lessons, students will gain a better grasp/understanding of how business is used in everyday life. I doubled majored in Business and Accounting at Thiel College, which has given me a wide spectrum of knowledge of the business world. I have experience as a student teacher, mentoring and training students as a Resident Assistant at Thiel College, managing students by being the President of a non-profit club called Circle K at Thiel College, and being a substitute teacher at Allegany-Limestone School. I have a Master of Accounting degree from Virginia Tech, where I was a Graduate Teaching Assistant. I taught Accounting, Finance and Business Math for two years at the undergraduate level after graduation. I am currently Controller for a medium-sized construction company, and use all aspects of accounting and finance in my daily work life. I focus on using examples from real business to explain problems and assignments in a clear, straightforward and step-by-step manner. I enjoy teaching and mentoring students and have been complimented many times by former students for my ability to explain complicated concepts in a way that makes them easy to understand. I believe it is important not understand not just the how of the work, but also the why, so that the students will be able to apply what they learn in the future.

I am a very patient person who understands that the best way to teach someone anything is to find out how they learn. My goal is to help others be confident about what they do know and to not be afraid to ask questions about what they don't know. If I can't teach someone anything, I will find someone who can. I will attempt to tutor from any angle necessary so that my student has the opportunity to be successul at their struggling subject matter. I will always be very supportive through the learning process and available anytime of the day or night for questions and immediate assistance. As a child, I entered the gifted program very young and have always tutored my peers. Tutoring led me to join the Quiz Bowl and other Academic Teams as well as led me to graduate high school early.
