I am the son of two teachers. I was raised around teaching and it is simply in my blood. I love the teaching in the classroom, I love teaching individual students, I love teaching. Not only do I have a passion to teach, I also have the knowledge and the ability to do so and to make it relevant. I find that students learn better when they see how the material relates to their lives. They want to know why it matters. I strive to show students the reasons for learning things and at the same time I teach the material. I believe that if you can show a student how the material is relevant to them, they can not help but be interested and thus excel. As an Honors Graduate of Washington State University, Vancouver, I pursued my English degree with an emphasis on Educational Methods instruction. This enabled me to learn real-world educational fundamentals in building and presenting teaching materials. As a life-long writer, I have acquired extensive grammatical skills. I have also tutored such subjects as Cooking, Computer Support, and fundamentals in drawing. It almost goes without saying I love teaching. I believe students will rise to the level of expectations set for them. I am a bit of a comedian, and I use humor to allay frustration in learning situations. I believe in setting goals and charting a specific path for reaching them, while being flexible enough to alter the path along the way. Praise and positive reinforcement are powerful tools when teaching challenging material, and I use them frequently. I received a BA in General Business from WSU, and was honored as a Cum Laude graduate. The courses were varied and included a wide array of math application, from supply and demand curves to interest rate calculations. My classmates gave me the nickname "Webster" because I was frequently asked to edit their papers and to tutor them in several different subjects. I love working with teenagers, and watching their faces change when they really GET a concept for the first time!

My master's thesis was on computer-based training. My experience includes teaching end users and other trainers (train the trainer). Classroom training subjects have included using software programs, developing online documentation, writing skills, communications training, policies and so on. Past clients have been Blue Cross Blue Shield, U.S. Navy, Chevron and many more. Further, I have mentored co-workers in the past and enjoy one-on-one coaching very much. My approach is to incorporate multiple learning styles (visual, auditory and so on). I also like to incorporate skills training as part of a scenario when possible. I love working with children. I believe that all children are a gift and that they have the ability to learn. It is our job to teach them. We need to find ways to teach them. Every child needs to be treated accordingly to their needs. I am a current grad student at Liberty University. I am working on my Masters degree in Education.
