Experience Summary
I have worked with students of all ages in a variety of scenarios, but my most recent experience is teaching as an adjunct professor at Eastern Washington University. My course was "History 110: The American Experience." I had 52 students and we met Monday through Friday. I received excellent reviews and several of my students wrote to me or came to my office to tell me that I helped make history interesting for the first time. I have a passion for education and I take that passion into working with students. My degrees in history and theology, combined with my professional experience, have allowed me to learn how to research well, write properly, and present information in a stimulating way.
Teaching Style
I am the son of two teachers. I was raised around teaching and it is simply in my blood. I love the teaching in the classroom, I love teaching individual students, I love teaching. Not only do I have a passion to teach, I also have the knowledge and the ability to do so and to make it relevant. I find that students learn better when they see how the material relates to their lives. They want to know why it matters. I strive to show students the reasons for learning things and at the same time I teach the material. I believe that if you can show a student how the material is relevant to them, they can not help but be interested and thus excel.
