I take a holistic approach and match students' needs with my teaching methods. I begin with a free assessment during which we determine together how often and what kind if tutoring is needed. We also decide where and when tutoring will take place based on your needs and budget. I ask that parents or clients bring any previous testing information or IEP if one is in place. I have noticed over the years that many students can identify their specific needs when it comes to learning. I see myself as a facilitator in helping students to learn while keeping in mind the different learning styles: visual, aural, kinesthetic. I was in the student teaching program at Wake Forest and upon graduation, I was a substitute teacher in the Winston-Salem, Forsyth County School system. I also participated in the Junior Achievement program in the Piedmont NC region for over 5 years. I am currently a tutor with the "No Child Left Behind Program."
I am a disciplinarian. I have an excellent ability to gain a students attention, keep it and the results of my students have been well above average. I have a knack to bring into the classroom, outside events (latest ball games, Olympics, etc.) to establish a 'bond' between myself and the student.
