As seen from above, I have valid tutoring experience in both middle grades and HS. I was in the student teaching program at Wake Forest and upon graduation, I was a substitute teacher in the Winston-Salem, Forsyth County School system. I also participated in the Junior Achievement program in the Piedmont NC region for over 5 years. I am currently a tutor with the "No Child Left Behind Program."
I am a disciplinarian. I have an excellent ability to gain a students attention, keep it and the results of my students have been well above average. The only teaching experience I have is the student teaching I did at Andrews High School in High Point in 1993 as part of the teaching program at UNC-Greensboro. For several months I taught American Literature and Composition. I have also conducted training classes on new procedures in previous jobs.
My goal is to engage each and every student in the classroom in some aspect of the lesson being conducted. Perhaps I can relate the lesson to experiences in their own lives, or I can tap into their knowledge of, or interest in, a particular subject. Students will not be interested in any lesson if the teacher does not care if they are interested.
