My comments on tutoring Drawing : I focus on realistic drawing from life.

I am a visual learner, which is necessary in the art field. I never fully understand a new method or technique without seeing it and trying it with my own hands first. When teaching, I verbally explain the process and visually explain it (with examples or demonstrations), then the student and I work on it together, then the student tries on their own, with me standing by to answer questions or correct mistakes.
As an art educator, I was required to master many different mediums. I have practiced drawing, painting, two- and three-dimentional design, Photoshop, printmaking, jewelry-making, and photography. My emphasis is pottery. I can handbuild and work on the potter's wheel. I create excellently-crafted functional pieces. A Little Bit About Me...

I love teaching and enjoy working with people of all ages. I am available to teach the following subjects: math, science, ancient history, paleontology, archaeology, writing, mythology, reading music, musical instruments/basic beginner classes (guitar, violin, mandolin, banjo, dulcimer), Visual arts (drawing, painting, sculpture, graphic arts, fashion design), gardening, herbs, horseback riding, and more. I am a firm believer in teaching by allowing the student to be more interactive - more hands on. I am a graduate of Bryan College with a degree in Music Education, having taken many education classes and completed a semester of student teaching at the elementary and high school level in Rhea County schools. My prior experience in teaching comes from over 5 years of teaching piano lessons to beginning through advanced students from age 4-adult. While at Bryan, I was a tutor for music theory students as well as assisted and edited English and literature papers and essays.
I have a great love of teaching and guiding young people in their academic studies. My approach to teaching or tutoring is open and involves as much personal encouragement as I can. I believe it is essential for the student to have a desire to learn in order for retainable education and it is essential for the teacher/tutor to encourage this desire as much as possible through teaching practices and activities.
