My comments on tutoring Drawing : As an artist, I am able to work with students on the technical skills and methods of drawing or their overall approach. I have taken many drawing classes and would be delighted to share what I have learned with others!

I have tutored a wide variety students on many subjects. I am most experienced tutoring high school students for the SAT. I worked with Let's Get Ready, a non-profit organization dedicated to preparing high school students for the SAT and their college search process. I typically tutored students for the Math section, but I am capable of tutoring for the Critical Reading and Writing sections as well. Some of my other tutoring experiences have been with middle and high school students. I have tutored several students in math, from middle school level general math to high school Calculus I. I have worked with younger students to improve their grammar and writing abilities. Furthermore, I have had a lot of less formal tutoring experiences with classmates through out my education. For many reasons, I usually do well in my classes and have often been asked to share my knowledge with other ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

I have attended CFCC and FCCJ. I am currently attending Liberty University for my Bachelor in Education. I have been teaching for about 7 years and through that time I have learned an extensive amount not only through in-services and training classes, but through my colleagues. I feel very confident in my ability to reach children that feel that they just can't get it. I have two children of my own, which I homeschooled for a year. My daughter, who is 13 years old, has Dyslexia and short term memory processing issues. I have learned so much just by teaching and tutoring her. I have taught K-3 thru 8th grade. I have tutored k-5 thru 12th grade in Reading and phonics.
I feel very strongly about a differential approach to my teaching methods. I believe every child is different and learns differently then the next child. I feel confident in developing a lesson plan that can be diverse ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

Teaching was not in my immediate future. I started substituting when I came to Florida and fell in love with teaching. I have a BS in Criminal Justice and have been through a Certification program with CFCC. I feel that I bring excitement, knowledge, enthusiasm and creativity to my students and have seen them excel in their reading skills and writing. I have tutored students in Reading in preparation for FCAT as well as succeeding in their futures.
I believe that my style of teaching can be summarized by one word..."FRESH". I look at education through fresh eyes and my students as a new challenge and endeavor. I LISTEN to my students and LEARN from them as well as teach them. I am interested in their opinion and try to incorporate their interests into my classroom which in turn produces enthusiastic students. I have seen great improvement in both the education and self confiden ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

I enjoy teaching and watching children learn. I do believe that all children can learn and should be given an opportunity to succeed. Once I attended a Teacher training where the speaker talked about how all children can learn, but they have different learning styles. I agree that each child learns different and deserves a chance to learn and be taught the manner in which they can learn. I believe and often teach students that education is the key to their future and no one should deny you an education. I am a caring teacher and parent. I have had much success in the classroom and as a tutor. Presently I tutor for another local company in Ocala. But I welcome a chance, once again to tutor a student in their home environment. I have found the success rate is greater when students are in their own environment. I want to make a difference in a child's life and give them a fair chance at lif ... read more

I love teaching art to all age levels. I really enjoy it when I show someone an art technique, they learn it, and make it their own. My teaching style is very specific to each student I tutor. I try to tailor my thoughts so that any student at any level in the subject can understand me. At the teaching center, the focus was to help guide the student to get the correct answer and not just give the answer. Sometimes the thinking process to achieving the correct answer is more important than the answer itself. I also try using diagrams and figures when they are called for to explain some of the topics. I frequently use positive reinforcement so the student feels even more encouraged to learn.
