A Little Bit About Me...

I have taught in First grade for the past two years. I have also taught pre kindergarten and kindergarten as well as substitute taught in grades K-6. I have a B.S in childhood education as well as a NYS Teacher Certification. I am currently working on my M.S in childhood education.
I have a passion to educate young minds and help them blossom into well rounded responsible individuals. I enjoy getting to know students in order to teach them. I pride myself on being able to adapt lessons in order to fit the individual needs of the students. I enjoy using hands on material in the classroom.

I believe that students best learn by being allowed to make mistakes. Instead of providing students with answers, I give them a challenge and guide them to discover the answers. I am patient throughout this process and encouraging as students grapple with new ideas. My goal is to motivate students to want to learn and to see the value in discovery. During any lesson, I try to enhance my students' metacognitive skills by asking them what they learned, or how they will remember new concepts. Through this approach to teaching, students begin to take control of their education and learn how to reflect on their own learning and thought processes.
