Organic Chemistry is one of my top subjects!

I received my Bachelor of Science from Western Washington University and my Master of Science from the University of Oregon, both in chemistry. After graduation, I worked in the pharmaceutical industry as a synthetic chemist before starting a PhD program. While I ultimately decided not to complete my doctorate, I did discover I had quite a passion for teaching chemistry. I then started teaching test prep courses and tutoring students, and later I started teaching general and organic chemistry as an adjunct professor in the Seattle Colleges District which I have been doing for the past 3 years.

I try to avoid giving students an answer immediately, but rather try to pry the answer out of them with questions so that they can figure out the answer themselves. I see teaching as helping/forcing the student to think things out and make discoveries for themselves, not just being spoon-fed information.
