Organic Chemistry is one of my top subjects!

I have overall 10 years of teaching experience. I came to United States to do my Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry. As a graduate student, I worked as a TA for the Department of Chemistry. I was trained on an intense 4 week program focused on undergraduate teaching methods offered by the Teaching College of U of Nebraska. Organic Chemistry is one of my top subjects!

I received my Bachelor of Science from Western Washington University and my Master of Science from the University of Oregon, both in chemistry. After graduation, I worked in the pharmaceutical industry as a synthetic chemist before starting a PhD program. While I ultimately decided not to complete my doctorate, I did discover I had quite a passion for teaching chemistry. I then started teaching test prep courses and tutoring students, and later I started teaching general and organic chemistry as an adjunct professor in the Seattle Colleges District which I have been doing for the past 3 years.
Tutoring especially appeals to me because breakthrough moments don’t always occur while class is in session. Every student has a slightly different way of wrapping his or her head around a given concept. By engaging students one-on-one, I can get a feel for their specific situation and how th ... read more

I have been teaching Biology 1100 for undergraduate offered by Idaho State University for past 2.5 years. Being a biology major i enjoy teaching biology and help student understanding basic foundation of science. Understanding is a part of learning where most of the student struggle. Science would be so much fun if we stick with the basic. Beside biology i have helped students with maths, physics and chemistry which without any doubt is an integral part of science. Being a recent graduate student i have learned the way how to tackle with problems and have successfully employed those problem solving techniques in my teaching carrier.contact me 2085402785 or email: waglpraj@isu.edu

Enjoy working with people of all ages who want to learn. Tend to use the Socrates style of asking questions and building on the student's response. Try to use real world examples that the student can relate to. I am patient, easy going, and considerate. Try to use some humor to put or keep the student at ease. A relaxed student will probably learn more.

I have experience working with students of all ages. I've taught elementary classes, college level labs and adult specific classes. I have always been driven to do well in my studies and have found success helping others achieve their academic goals. Science is so fun and I love helping others understand the complexities of how it all works and fits together.
I love working with students to set and accomplish learning goals. I look for ways to make subject matter relevant to each individual by looking for ways it relates to their own life. A Little Bit About Me...

I am a recent graduate of the University of Washington with a BS in Chemistry. I also have a strong background in math and biology. Aside from my educational background, I have experience as an educator: from June 2007 to February 2008 I worked for a private language school in Prague, Czech Republic as an English language teacher.
I try to avoid giving students an answer immediately, but rather try to pry the answer out of them with questions so that they can figure out the answer themselves. I see teaching as helping/forcing the student to think things out and make discoveries for themselves, not just being spoon-fed information. Of course, sometimes it is necessary to tell students the answer if all else fails (after all, it is important that learning is not a frustrating activity for the student), and rote memorization can be a valuable tool every now and then. While I have unabashedly high standards, nothing pleases me more than to reward good effort. Most importantly, I have a passion for knowledge and delight in sharing my enthusiasm with other students.
From early grade school through high school and college, classmates recognized my scholastic aptitude and frequently consulted me for informal tutoring, while teachers recruited me for more formal assignments tutoring remedial classmates. I enjoyed teaching during my tenure as a TA. In addition, through college I was able to participate in educational outreaches to elementary and junior high students showing them that chemistry does have a great significance in their lives. As a teacher, I really want to show the students through the basic concepts and really allow the student to help use those concepts to explore more difficult situations. I feel that showing I am invested in their education; my student can then truly learn and grow.
Being the first college graduate for a portion of my family, I feel that the need to excel is extremely important. I earned my BS in chemistry, a 132 hour program, in four years. Working as a TA I felt I could directly help students reach their goals by giving them additional tools to learn with. Since being a TA, I have worked in a laboratory and have been relied upon to convey ... read more

I have been professionally teaching for almost 30 years whether it be swimming to five year olds or flying to heads of aviation organizations. Few things give greater satisfaction than sharing what I have learned with others and watching them grow as they learn. A skilled, dedicated teacher, with a passion for the subject, can get anyone to learn, all the learner needs is a little desire. It is my job as a teacher/mentor to explore and grow that desire. I believe in a relaxed, but disciplined teaching environment of mutual respect between teacher and learner where both can learn from each other.

In college I volunteer tutored at the Crawford Country READ center to a pupil struggling with reading comprehension, writing and mathematics. In addition to this, during my senior year at Allegheny College I was a teaching assistant for a Research Design and Statistics I and II course. Furthermore, I am currently living in Pittsburgh as a private tutor. As a recent college graduate I can understand the difficulties some students may face in grasping course material and feel capable of connecting and conveying information in an effective way.
In the past I have worked with students both one and one and within a group setting, and feel comfortable adapting to any particular group or individual's needs.
