Accounting is one of my top subjects! i currently teach at the college level and use accounting and economics as the basis for this instruction.

I practiced law for over 25 years and since 2010 have taught at Pima Community College. In teaching, I utilize a combination of law, accounting and economics to teach the courses and make the concepts taught come alive by offering real world examples of the application of each of these subjects. I often have classes in which there is a split of some people who are much more advanced than others so I have learned how to reach the struggling student without impeding the progress of the faster student. I have really enjoyed teaching and preparing students to make their way in the world.

Experienced Tutor for Accounting, Algebra, Math etc

I have been an accountant for over 20 yrs and have trained office staff and accountants during this time. I have tutored my son's friends in college accounting. I was a substitute teacher, including long term positions that lasted 6 months, for 5 years. I mostly worked in middle school and H.S. Did tutoring during school lunch hours. I apply my real life skills and academic knowledge to my teaching.
I am patient. I go over problems several times to be sure you know them. I do not move on to the next skill until you have mastered the current skill. I can give you extra worksheets to keep practicing your skills. We can do online training or meet at a public place (bookstore etc) for the lessons.

As an Officer in the United States Army, and later a college graduate majoring in Accountancy, I found a unique opportunity to challenge myself and provide training to members of the Army assigned unit. We covered map reading, bridge building and related topics within the Corps of Engineers. While working and attending college to acquire the degree in Accountancy,I found that working in the business department provided an excellent reference point for the study course material at the college level. Each individual is different. Therefore, you have to know the person first in order to apply a teaching style. Age, gender, and subject matter are some elements that influence how a person learns. Some people learn visually, some people learn by practicing, some people don't want to learn. My style varies according to the individual and what he or she likes or dislikes. As a tutor my role can be from formal authority, demonstrator, facilitator and delegator. Key elements in the classroom: 1) facilitate interaction and 2) delivery of the content to student. This program worked with several schools in the Rochester, NY area to provide in school and after school tutoring and teaching assistance to children grades 6-12. I specialized at one school, Hope Hall in Gates, NY, where I worked with students who had a variety of learning challenges. I assisted students with subjects such as: English, Spanish, French, math, language arts, science and social studies. I have worked in the Accounting/Financial Services field in various roles, beginning in high school. I have worked for local government, financial institutions, and large corporations. In addition, I have earned a BS in Accounting. At the present, I am preparing for the CPA exam.
I believe that every student has the capacity to reach their goals. Each student works and learns at a different pace.
