Hello, I'm a senior at Canyon High and a valedictorian of my class of 2013. I have taken over 10 AP tests (with scores of 4 or 5 on all of them) and succeeded in getting 2340 on the SAT. As you can see, I am a hard worker with a purpose in my mind. Some people may argue that good grades do not necessarily predict great tutoring skills. But no worries. I have some experience in tutoring: I tutored my peers and middle school students at church and at school in AP Chemistry, Physics, Algebra I, Geometry, and Spanish.

A Little Bit About Me...

We are a team of experienced teachers and tutors each specializing in our own subject strengths. We provide excellent customer service, possibly immediate or same day for homework help or project completion. Online tutoring is also available with a shared online whiteboard for step-by-step problem solving. We strive to get to the root of the problem be it a test-taking challenge or a problem with foundational concepts. Not very fond of your teacher? Unfortunately, this is often the case. We follow your own pace of learning to achieve results. We love the moment when a student finally understands a topic and starts building self-confidence. We can then use this to change the way a student thinks about a subject resulting in continual improvement and achievement. A Little Bit About Me...

I decided to pursue a teaching credential at an advanced stage in my career because I wanted to do something I really enjoyed. I had been a technical instructor for fifteen years and loved it. I have always been good in math, and a university counselor told me this was a high need area. Hence, I enrolled in a credential program. Because I have passed the requisite Csets in foundation level math, I am qualified to teach algebra and geometry at the middle or high school level. I have also tutored students ranging from third grade to high school graduate in math and English.
I believe in an interactive approach. That is, I want my students actively involved, engaged, and participating. When a student is puzzled, I prefer to provide clues rather than just give him/her the answer. I strive to be patient and respectful at all times, but I will push my pupils in an effort to get t ... read more

My teaching style is to show students how to make themselves successful. Having graduated with honors from a top university, the greatest asset I offer comes from my real world teaching experience. During my tenure as a substitute I have taught at all levels, from kindergarten to middle-aged adults, in all subject areas. Even as a young person I was involved with teaching others; I first began as a teacher's aid in high school and later I served as a tutor in college. This led to teaching full-time at the kindergarten level. Last year I worked in a summer camp in Canada and I completed my TESOL training and I was successful in teaching English in Paris France in the fall. Returning to California I continue to teach part time for the Ventura Unified School District.
My training in rhetoric, speech, and debate has taught me the importance of speaking clearly and articulately. This means that I pay close attention to language and I try to bring out that qu ... read more

During my years at Gannon University, I tutored for the state-funded CAAP program. I tutored college students in English Composition, French, Spanish, Theology, Philosophy. I also had the opportunity to tutor an elementary student in Math, English, Science and Theology for 2 years. I have a BA in Philosophy and Psychology with minors in French and Political Science from this university and had wished to pursue the BA in French from the University of Arizona but leadership opportunities arose at work, limiting my ability to take full-time classes. I am well versed in APA format as I have had to utilize this format for my Psychology coursework.
I enjoy being able to share the knowledge that I have accumulated during my years of life and education. I am generally able to frame information in a way that is mentally accessible to all students so that they can grasp it for themselves. I ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

I use a white board when teach people because I find people get less stressed out when working with a problem if there is less scribbles on the paper. I also have a strong belief that it only takes one good example to understand the problem so I give the people I tutor one really good generic example of the topic and tell them to copy it down and refer to that example often and I find that it helps a lot.
I have a variety of degrees and specialties but math is my strong suite. I have tutored friends with great results. I have helped people in math classes ranging from simple math to statistics and even college level math. I love math and English and I also love working with people of all ages and teaching them to love math as well. I feel that teachers make things more complicated than they need to be and I am great at simplifying explanations for people.

I have earned a bachelors degree in Psychology, passed the CBEST, and have about four years of work experience as a tutor. I tutored students, ranging from grades K-12, in various subjects, but mainly in Mathematics and Language Arts/Reading. Also, in a previous position, I managed after-school tutoring programs for both elementary and junior high schools at the school site, in-home, and public location/library.
Education is extremely important to me. As an educator, I think it is important to not only share one's knowledge, but to be able to adapt one's teaching style for each student. Through my experience, I know it is important to have patience and be open-minded with my students. I enjoy tutoring and being a positive role model to all my students.
