I graduate May 2009 from Simmons College with a BS in Biochemistry. My courses taken during my undergraduate career were heavily focused in the sciences. I’ve taken upper level chemistry, physics, biology, and math courses. I tutored a student in zoology for a brief period of time. I was also a teaching assistant for Organic Chemistry I and II labs. I often met with students outside of lab to help clarify information and help answer questions on particular concepts and problems. I am furthering my own education by attending the University of Glasgow in the fall. There I will be studying veterinary medicine, which again is heavily focused in the sciences.

As passionate of a student as I am, I equally enjoy being an active part in another’s understanding and learning towards a new and challenging subject. I love working with high school and junior high students. I understand that the struggle and challenge of learning new material can be so enormously overwhelming and difficult for some it can be deemed impossible. I primarily focus myself on patience, empathy, and comfort. Students will discover they are capable of accomplishing so much more when they place themselves in the appropriate environment with the correct support system and slowly defeat the fear of failure while embracing the rewards of learning. A Little Bit About Me...

I believe all children want to learn. Sometimes it takes some work to find the spark that ignites the learning process. Unfortunately, a larger classroom may not be the best environment to find that spark in some kids. I've been successful with both children and adults because I have a knack for finding out what motivates them. Once I know something about how a student thinks, I can better come up with concepts that will help her or him understand the subject.
I've been teaching since I was an 18-year-old Navy Hospital Corpsman in the 1970's. I tutored math, Biology and Chemistry during undergrad and med school and helped friends with the grammar for their research papers. I'm weary of dealing with managed care and am currently a little over than a year away from getting my Masters in Education.
