I returned from Palermo, Sicily in late December, 2014. I had been there working and living since June, teaching English to Italian children and adults. I have been going to Italy since 2010 annually and absolutely adore all things Italian. Speaking Italian is like eating cake with every word. I have always had a strong passion for languages and perhaps because of this have done extensive traveling. I have lived in several countries and speak several languages. In my adventures I have found time and again that the easiest, most effortless and fastest way to learn a language is to immerse oneself in that culture. Why? Because it is not enough to remember that "arrivederci" translates to "goodbye." Rather, to really know the inside of a language one must also know and understand its people and the culture it comes from. I truly believe conversation is the best way to learn a new language.

Beginning my foreign language education at the age of seven instilled in me a determination to master the French language and then use it to help others. I have earned a bachelor degree in French and graduated summa cum laude in three years. The year after graduation, the graduate school selected me to participate in an exchange program in Paris, France, where I taught university-level English conversation and took classes on medieval and 19th-Century French literature. An extensive exposure to literary analysis taught me excellent grammatical, proofreading, and critical thinking skills. I have experience tutoring students in French and substitute teaching in general education. I was an exceptionally driven high school student, taking the most difficult schedule my small private school would offer. My course work included AP calculus and AP US government, on both exams I received good marks. In college I studied a wide variety of classes in pursuit of a degree in the liberal arts. My main foci were history, foreign languages and English literature and grammar while maintaining a love for the sciences and mathematics. I have spent the last two years teaching English as a second language in China. My time there was spent teaching the oral skills and tutoring in reading and writing.
