Many students are very apprehensive when they enter math classes because the concepts seem so foreign. I have always had a natural curiosity for learning Mathematics and a desire to teach others. I remember being a student in Elementary School struggling to understand a particular concept and then imagining myself explaining this concept to others once I achieved understanding. Mathematics has always been challenging for me but noticed that as long as I was persistent I always acquired knowledge of the material. I was exposed to many different math instructors and many of them motivated me to learn mathematics and inspired me to want to teach. Teaching can be a most wonderful adventure. I believe every child can learn. At times students or overwhelming with new concepts, and they need to be encouraged, and praise until they can accomplish the task at hand. I enjoy seeing the appearence of awareness on a childs face, when they have accomplished a goal, or solved a problem they had difficulty solving. My teaching style tends to be structured in the beginning as I get to know each students strengths and weaknesses and then adapts to each persons needs. I believe that everyone has their own learning style and try to present the material in a manner that encompasses auditory instruction, visual aids, as well as, hands on experience. The benefit of science as a subject matter is that what we know science has been found through hands on experiments.
