In college, I helped students in calculus, biology, and statistics, as these are the primary focus of my undergraduate degree. I love working with children. I've taught acting at the Durham Arts Council for three years. The duties from that position included directing students in performances which I helped them create. The plays were written around themes chosen by the camp director. So, in essence, the children and I would research those themes and develop stories which I would then turn into plays using my expertise. My favorite experience with tutoring was teaching algebra to 8th graders. I tried to take them through basic examples that thoroughly teach the overarching concept and then have them take that concept and apply it to examples with added functionality. I have found this works best because it pushes the kids to really learn the concepts.
