Marine Biology is one of my top subjects! Was employed as an Marine Science instructor in the Florida Keys. As long as I have time to go over the desired curriculum, I will be able to relay that information in a palitable learnable format for students.

Since graduating from college I have been learning more and more about the natural world around us. I have spent time as a professional biologist performing a wide array of tasks that encompass chemistry and engineering with aspects to biological studies. Field Biology and Fisheries biology are my strongest suits, but I also have experience teaching Marine Biology to students visiting to the Florida Keys. We would teach the scientific method as well as lab protocol and field ecological concepts to students during their stay. A Little Bit About Me...

I achieved an AA degree at Florida Community College at Jacksonville. I am currently continuing my education at Florida State University where I am pursuing a Bachelors Degree in Biology. I will graduate in Spring of 2010. After, I will continue to Dental School to become a dentist.
I enjoy teach with all different age levels. Most recently, I taught 4th grade science through the FSU Teach Program. It was fun and really showed me how to teach students and make the lessons engaging and fun. Its important to keep the child focused. “You love what you understand and you understand what you are taught.” I believe learning should be fun and understandable. Many times, especially in science, students do not like a subject, because it is not explained in terms they understand. I believe the key is to relate any subject to something the students already understand/love. If a student needs help in math and they love M&M’s, then you can find an equation for the various colors in a bag of M&M’s or find the surface area of an M&M. Everything relates to everything, the connection just needs to be made. When a connection is made with previous knowledge there is a deeper understanding and you are less likely to forget what you have been taught. The key is to be creative and fun.

The thing I love most about teaching is opening up someones eyes to something new and seeing the "wow" look on their faces. Sometimes certain subject matter is not always easy for a person to learn. I've always appreciated the teacher that went out of their way with a great amount of patience to make sure I understood.
