A Little Bit About Me...

As the Office Assistant at Exousia Rehabilitation Services, I also performed many personal assistant tasks for the owner, including tutoring her two high school students at least three nights a week. As the Administrative Assistant and nRg Program Coordinator at Heart Reach Ministries (a non-profit youth center), I worked with at-risk teenagers during both summers I was there. This involved leading group discussions as well as educational lesson plans at least twice a week throughout the summer. I took Spanish all four years of high school, as well as the first two years of college so I have a solid understanding of grammar, conversation style, and Spanish culture and am capable of teaching an intermediate level of Spanish.

As a senior at Carolina I will graduate in the spring of 2012 with a BS in Biology and a minor in Chemistry—providing a thorough understanding of science. I have taken several courses on the different styles of learning. I try to find out what style works best for my students and work from there. I know several ways to solve Chemistry problems and I try different ones if the first method does not work. I have learned to use many analogies when teaching Biology. I find that students remember more when they are able to compare a concept to something they are alreaday familiar with.
