Guitar playing is fun. I have enjoyed many years with the guitar. At age 12 I rescued my first guitar from a garbage can on my way home from school. I was enthralled. A few strategically placed screws and a bottle of Elmer’s glue to reattach the neck, and I was playing the baseline of “Wipe-Out” to the amazement of my friends. It doesn’t get any better than that. I’m now known as Grampy. My friendship with the six string has survived these many years. I have been fortunate to introduce people of all ages to this popular instrument. I have enjoyed the opportunity to play in some nice restaurants and several weddings. In my younger years I studied music at Cerritos College in California. A Little Bit About Me...

I have played the guitar for 43 years. My influences are; bossa nova, spanish flamenco and easy listening jazz. For the last 10 years I have played professionally as the guitar duo of "Martin and Vargas". We currently play weekly and have produced and recorded our first CD, "La Vina". We have a website, www.martinandvargas.net. I have a deep passion in what I enjoy doing and I wish to help others learn from my knowledge and skills that I have developed during all my years of playing the guitar.
In addition to playing the guitar, I have been a certified lifeguard for 17 years. I was certified lifeguard instructor for 7 years of these years; teaching CPR, First Aid, Basic Lifeguarding and Waterfront Rescue Training. The majority of my students were High School Students.
