My teaching style will depend on your child's needs. I have found that the easiest way is to make notes and practice problems to go over, then allow them to show me what they can do. With writing, I prefer that your child do a rough draft before meeting with me so that I can show them what they are doing wrong and how to fix it. In high school, I was frequently the one that people came to for help. It was then that I realized I was extremely good at teaching. My senior year, I spent all day helping four different math teachers, one of which was frequently absent. In order to keep her class from falling behind, she had me make notes and go over practice problems with her classes. I tutored in the subjects of math, English and reading. I interacted with the teachers to see what extra help was needed for the students. I’ve had many years of practice in the tutoring field dealing with the fact that my brother has a learning disability. He likes to have fun and thinks that leaning is boring, so I try to make learning as fun as possible. Then I have my student on student tutoring when the students tutor each other. I think its better that way because most students don't really pay attention to their teachers but they take it better when it comes from another student. Sometimes its better because something you understand they may not understand and when you explain it to them then may be they will understand it a little better. I have 19 years of experience teaching in an elementary/middle school in DeSoto County MS. I have taught all of the subjects, but the last few years I taught elementary math.
