Experience Summary
In high school, I was frequently the one that people came to for help. It was then that I realized I was extremely good at teaching. My senior year, I spent all day helping four different math teachers, one of which was frequently absent. In order to keep her class from falling behind, she had me make notes and go over practice problems with her classes. I spent quite a bit of my free time working on notes and worksheets, and giving step by step instructions to other children. In addition, I tutored other people who were having trouble for extra money. I also have a little brother and little sister that I spend a good bit of time going over homework and preparing for tests. I have the necessary experience to help pull your child's grades up.
Teaching Style
My teaching style will depend on your child's needs. I have found that the easiest way is to make notes and practice problems to go over, then allow them to show me what they can do. With writing, I prefer that your child do a rough draft before meeting with me so that I can show them what they are doing wrong and how to fix it.
My Hobbies
In my free time, I do volunteer work with teachers, get ahead on my own school work, and read books.
Other Comments
Although sometimes inconvenient, I feel that studying in the library gives your child a formal school setting, but also gives us access to computers and books that can aid in our studying. A public place is as much for your child's safety as it is for their learning experience. Please, please e-mail me with any questions. I am happy to help your child with anything, no matter how small.
