I think that everyone has a propensity to learn a language and each student needs someone very patient to go down the path of language learning with them. A student learning a foreign language must speak the language a lot, so I will place an important emphasis on conversational skills. Once a student can converse correctly and comfortably in another language, they will have more fluency in their writing, reading and listening skills. There will also be an emphasis in authentic learning materials, and will consist of materials made by and for Spanish Speakers in Latin America and Spain. I worked as a full-time instructor of physics, astronomy, and engineering/electronics last summer for Upward Bound, a program that provided additional classwork and guidance to selected high-schoolers who came from low-income families that never before sent a kid to college. I also have one and a half years of experience tutoring introductory physics to early college-level students.
