A Little Bit About Me...

I received my B.S. in physics and went on to work at a Community College tutoring math. I enjoyed this work immensely and received excellent reviews from the students. While working at the college I also tutored middle school and high school students privately. In High School I took a class on Society and the Child which involved tutoring english and math two days a week for a fourth grade class. I plan on returning to school in 2010 to obtain a Masters in Secondary Educaton, with my focus on Math and Science Education.
I have found that there is nothing so rewarding as that moment when a subject 'clicks' for a student. By staying positive and adaptive I believe it is possible to guide students to finding solutions on their own. My education background began in 1990. That year I earned my AA in education from Scottsdale Community College in the area of education. In 1992 I received my BA from Arizona State University in education. I began working in the Balsz Unifed School District in 1992 and was employed as a special education teacher in the Balsz district for 12 years, and three more years in Prescott, Arizona as we had moved from Phoenix, Arizona to Prescott, Arizona. I hold Arizona state certifications in regular education K-8; special education K-12 and emotional disabilities K-12. In high school I was able to tutor students in all subjects ranging from English to Math to Musical Studies. Furthering my education at Trinity University in San Antonio, TX really opened my eyes and mind to wider ranges of educational foundations. As a double major in Communication and Classical Studies, I was able to get a well rounded education in all subjects. I feel that I am also skilled in math and got a minor in Art History. Since receiving my teaching certificate in English from the state of California in 1985, I have been employed as a Guest Teacher within Tracy, Ca.; Stockton, Ca.; Modesto, Ca.; Turlock, Ca.; and, currently, in Prescott Valley, Az. I am frequently requested as a guest teacher at Glassford Hill Middle School in Prescott Valley and have served as a long-term guest teacher for English classes on numrous occasions.
As I am a very auditory/visual learner, I tend to to lean towards both auditory and visual techniques.
