After graduation, I taught on a transitional teaching license. I taught in the Woodburn School District. I then went to Japan and taught English as a second language. I grew up between Bolivia and the United States and speak Spanish and English fluently. I took statistics in university and taught math in Spanish from time to time as a substitute for the Woodburn School District. In Woodburn I taught a self contained classroom for a while. I had to teach ELL students Social Studies, Math, Language arts in both Spanish and English and science. As a substitute I taught all kinds of classrooms including all subject matters. As an advanced student in highschool algebra, my teacher chose me to tutor one struggling athlete and one girl trying to raise her B to an A for acceptance to an Ivy League University. In discovering their different learning styles, I was able to teach my students in a way they understood. Seeing the light in their eyes as they figured out a problem gave me a passion for teaching.
