A Little Bit About Me...

About midway through my studies at Northeastern University, I started teaching in after-school programs. There I taught middle school and high school ages kids how to DJ and produce music. I also taught capoeira, a Brazilian martial arts class. During my time at NU i studied all aspects of music technology including compostion, music theory, production, and engineering.
My teaching style is very hands on. I like to show the student how its done and make them repeat the process over until the concepts are understood. I also like the students to have choices and some sort of control over their own learning processes so that there is mutual respect amongst peers and myself.

In 1997 I was a teacher assistant for the Huntington Park High School music department. I ran rehearsals with the marching band, jazz band, jazz choir, beginning orchestra, and beginning band. In April of 2000 I started working at Middleton Street School where I had the music program under my direction for almost ten years. Instruments include: Violin, Guitar, Vihuela, Guitarron, Voice, and Trumpet. I currently have my own Mariachi group, and play with other groups who need or are short in musicians.
