Hello- Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Mandy M. I am a graduate of Morrison University with a Bachelor's degree in Accounting and a year towards my Master's in Business Administration. At this point, one might wonder why I would be interested in tutoring when my education is in the accounting world. I have a masters degree in Enviornmental Biology and a BA in pre-med sciences. I also have an AA degree in Dietetics. My other hat is a long career in writing, editing, and publishing. So, I am a grammarian and have taught English composition. I have been a substitute teacher for more than eight years in elementary, middle, and high school. Never tell a child when you can ask him.

For Science and Math I employ an inquiry-based method of teaching/exploration. This allows for more meaningful learning and gives the student the opportunity to learn on his or her own before being given instruction by the teacher. This method is aligned with the STEM initiative in the United States. For Language Arts, reading, and Spanish, I teach by individualizing instruction to each child, allowing for meaning-making and communication rather than simply rote learning of facts and vocabulary. A strength on which I have always prided myself is my ability to relate complex concepts with useful analogies and from different angles. I never underestimate a child's ability to learn something, so long as it's in a way in which they understand it. Curriculum development is also important.
