I have a Bachelor's degree in Speech Language Pathology field as an Assistant. I graduated 11 years ago from University of Puerto Rico Medical Science Campus. During my bachelor's degree I took some curses of American Sign Language. From 8/1998 to 2/2002 I worked in Clinica de Terapias Pediatricas working in one on one basis with students to get them improve in the areas of speech, language and comprehension. I initially try to find what he/she is struggling with,and what strengths and weaknesses are present. I allow the person to ask questions in a fluid, spontaneous, "let's see as we tackle this together" manner. When something is not understood, I try to give analogies, examples that the person can relate to. I also may explain the subject matter in a more simplified, methodical fashion.
