A Little Bit About Me...

I have been a teacher for 7 years. I have taught in a small-town private, Christian two-room schoolhouse (K-8); I currently substitute teach for OPS, and have been to all but one school in the district. I have also tutored on and off over the years, both individually and in small groups, both privately and through school district or companies. I enjoy working with students in a smaller setting, especially one or two at a time, and helping them understand concepts and thus succeed in their schoolwork.
The process is just as important as the product. If a student can come up with the correct answer, but he or she has no idea how or why it is correct or how they got it, I feel like their learning is incomplete. I have spent thirty-five years in the field of education. During my college years I worked in the early childhood field and I worked as a private tutor as a means of supporting my education. Since that time I have worked in public schools, religious organizations, private educational facilities, and non-profit organizations partnering with public schools. The past thirteen years my work has primarily been in the early childhood and elementary field, providing educational services to young children and their families. Elementary aged children received tutoring and summer camp educational services through my work at this educational facility.
