My comments on tutoring Poetry : Poetry is all part of learning the ground rules of Literature. Its is always included in my studies, such as Edgar Allen Poe and Annabelle Lee and other classic stories.

I believe that the youth are in dire need of adults that have a heart to teach. As a teacher of your child, I want to be able to spend that time as productive as possible. I believe in one on one with a child as the best possible way of learning. In our fast pace world, some students need to have that private time to learn and be influenced through just one adult; that one adult could make all the difference in a child's life. I also believe in the power of words. What we say from our heart can be heard through the spirit of a child. I pledge to choose my words carefully. From my tutoring experiences last year, my teaching style would best be described as very proactive. Many of the students were extremely frustrated by the concepts that they did not understand. This created an apathetic attitude towards the subject. Due to the lack of interest that I observed, I decided to go through problem by problem with the students. I talked them through each problem, and asked the students questions, but required them to calculate the answer. As we practiced and practiced, the students began to use the techniques that I taught them to calculate the answers on their own.

A Little Bit About Me...

I go through all the concepts with the individual pertaining to what portion of statistics they are studying at that time. I will then walk them through a couple of examples demonstrating how to properly obtain the correct answer. I will follow that up by asking them to do a problem without any direct instruction from me. I will watch them work on the problem to assure they are working on it properly. If any mistakes are made I will politely point them out as the individual is working. Finally, I will ask them to work on problems completely on their own and I will check their answers when they are done. I feel the only way to learn statistics, or any math for that matter, is through repetition and working on a lot of problems.
