I don't think I have really developed a "unique style" by only teaching a year or so. I am a very patient person and I really like to see the "sparkle" in a students eye, when they truly understand something for the 1st time. I like to explain a concept and then give the student a problem and see if they get it. If not, I will go over as many times necessary...until they understand the material.
I have a recent Bachelor's in Accounting, as well as 15+ years of accounting experience in both private and non-profit settings. While working at Thornhill Education Center, I had the opportunity to work with students and help teach GED classes. My main focus was math. Simply put my teaching style has always been to make the student comfortable with statistics. I find many students are petrified of the thought of having to understand what all those Greek symbols mean. The way I teach is to bring statistics into the student’s world. I do this by showing how statistics are used in the real world. As a student of German at Bellarmine University, I was able to learn the German language through immersion experiences in Austria and Germany. I also studied German grammar and literature in depth through classes at Bellarmine. I was a tutor in the Academic Resource Center for two years as I was completing my degree and continued to work with students for a year after my graduation.
