I rediscovered my joy for teaching in my Masters program achieving an M.A. in Theology and Popular Culture. I helped my friends build stronger research papers and better study habits. I have for the past two fall Semesters been teaching what I think are important skills for each person to acquire- reading, study and critical thinking skills. I think these skills help the student accomplish whatever goals they have set for themselves. I enjoy the individuality of each student. One student may learn best visually, while another through kinesetics, each a valid learning style. Once a child can find their style they can confidence in their ability to learn. I believe that no two students learn alike and the most important thing is to make sure students are having fun with learning. If learning is looked at as boring or hard students will try to avoid it, when learning is fun students learn without realising the work involved. I am willing to try a new tactic with every new task and am always learning myself. As someone new to the education field I am always researching new ideas in the education field. As before, since I do not have classroom teaching experience I'm not exactly sure what my style would be. Initially I feel I should explain that I do not stand a strict method. From the people I have tutored before I have learned that you need to adapt to different situations and different needs. Some students need more regimented discipline such as an outline of everything for every day and others need just a general idea of what is required, etc, etc. I am confident, and proud, in the fact that I can adapt to any situation. I may not have the experience, but I do have the knowledge and I do have the passion. As a bilingual, internationally traveled persona, I have tutored students of all ages. From 1999-2003, I have served as a third grade Teacher's Aide focusing on on reading, memorization and basic math tutoring. Since 1999, I also have tutored middle, high school, and college students in pre-algebra, algebra, geography, computer skills, writing, and grammar. My master's degree has trained me in learning techniques. In my experience, a person needs to be confident in him/herself in order to succeed. Learning of scholastic material is two fold: personal and academic development. By understanding the manner in which the student comprehends new information, we then can build upon their foundation by removing the frustration and replacing it with confidence that will extend into their personal life as well.

I love working with children. I believe that every child has the potential to learn, and as a tutor I work to find which way the child learns best, whether through sports or music, or other various activities. I am extremely patitent and understanding, and I am eager to help children. I strive to help children better themselves. As a Psychology student, I understand the importance of learning. I tutored middle and high school aged children in all subject areas, particularly in math.
