Most of my teaching experience has been with the Detroit Board of Education in the area of art and humanities which includes history and english. I am certified and capable of teaching any subject in elementary and jr.high school. I am gifted and talented in art and communictions at the high school level. My approach is to establish a relationship with small talk and introductions. A parent must be present at all times. I will keep up with the child's work load in the respective subject and also be in contact with their teacher. But my inital style will be repetition, which I found to be most productive during my time in the military. However, I realize that there many different methods to teaching. At St. Andrews Presbyterian College, I enjoyed helping fellow classmates write essays and found that my skills in English were immensely useful in all classes. I took a job working at the school library and was paid to help students with research and writing. Last year, I finished my first screenplay entitled "For Sale by Owner", a thesis, and my original TV pilot, which I helped produce at the school. I have earned a bachelor degree in Psychology and I have started a second bachelor's degree in Forensics. I have obtained many tutoring skills in my various areas of study including math, English, psychology, and science.
I have worked with children since I was 13. I have worked in settings where I was a daycare worker, a nanny, and a substitute teacher. The first thing that I try to do is get to know my client, mainly focusing on what they both like and dislike about school. Then we narrow it down even further to the subject that they are having problems in. I ask them what they think the problem is, find out what the school/teacher thinks the problem is (through review of their coursework including past homework and tests) and come up with a solution that will benefit the student, teacher, and parent to improve and fix the situation.
