Tutored 2-3 days a week for many elementary school students when I was in high school. Subjects included introductory Spanish, Grammar, Writing, Composition, Writing, Typing skills and techniques, Study skills, and reading. Three years of experience in summer tutoring, helping students prepare for next grade level through workbooks, hands-on activities, and refreshing activities to recall main concepts and skills taught the previous year of school.
I try to get to know what tactics help each student succeed in the best way possible. According to what the student's interests and hobbies are, I create a tutor and study plan specific to them to help them succeed.

A Little Bit About Me...

My favorite jobs that I have had dealt with working with children. I love working with children and making a difference in their lives. No two children are the same and that is why they deserve one on one communication. Each child has their own way of learning and that is why it is important to get to know them on a personal level.
For the past four summers I have worked in a childcare setting. Last summer I did an internship at a Headstart and the previous three summers I worked at a daycare. I graduated from UW-Madison with a BS in Dietetics. In order to obtain this degree, I had to take a wide variety of Science courses including: Chemistry, Biochemistry, Physiology, Anatomy, and many others. Not only am I well versed in Science, I have a background in Math too. In highschool, I completed the AP-Caluculus course with a score that allowed me to bypass any college math courses. However, I have refreshed my math skills since I recently took the Graduate Requisite Exam (GRE) and received high scores in the math section. From my tutoring experiences last year, my teaching style would best be described as very proactive. Many of the students were extremely frustrated by the concepts that they did not understand. This created an apathetic attitude towards the subject. Due to the lack of interest that I observed, I decided to go through problem by problem with the students. I talked them through each problem, and asked the students questions, but required them to calculate the answer. As we practiced and practiced, the students began to use the techniques that I taught them to calculate the answers on their own.
