I am able to teach children of all ages and also am able to tailor my teaching style to the age I am teaching. Through encouragement and pointing in the correct direction instead of just giving an answer, I believe that the student learns best. Because I know all students learn at in different ways and at different paces, I am very patient in helping the student discover how best they learn and encourage them not to get upset if they do not “get it” right away. It believe it is my duty to help them not only get good grades but also to try and relate the subject being tutored into their lives.

My teaching follows the experiential learning paradigm with a focus on utilizing the student’s inherent creative skills in order to relate information and pursue skill attainment and enhancement. The tutoring will be very “hands-on” for the student during the sessions, getting them to actively participate in a learning atmosphere by targeting multiple skill-sets, modes of learning, and intelligences. I have a Bachelor's degree in accounting and many years of accounting experience. I also have knowledge of computer programming with html, css, javascript, php, and mysql. I have dedicated my professional life to helping students and young people achieve their potential. In my experience, often times a student’s ability to learn is tied in with their trust of and rapport with the person teaching them. I feel it is important to allow the student to go at his or her “own pace” and not create a frustrating environment where they may feel too pressured. Although the parents may feel frustrated at this point, it is helpful to get their support and encouragement during the tutoring process. So, ideally, it is important to first create a good learning environment followed by a clear understanding of the subject problem areas (establishing a “baseline”) and then setting up a plan for overcoming those problem areas.
