Anatomy is one of my top subjects! I am a Physical Therapist Assistant and have taken college anatomy classes.

I have previously worked for the YMCA in a before and after school program for elementary age children. On a daily basis we would have a specific time set aside for the children to complete their homework. I would sit with the children and help them understand the homework they were struggling with.

A Little Bit About Me...

I am currently a Special Education student at Northern Illinois University. I at the beginning of the education program and think this would an excellent chance to start teaching. I have a vast background in science, being that my first major was biology.

A Little Bit About Me...

Mathematically, I teach from a logical, or procedural approach. As students work their way up to Calculus and further, it is important to understand the process of problem-solving and not focus on the numbers alone. Many sciences can become abstract, I like to relate topics to things students may encounter everyday or already understand in order to get a foundation before complicating topics with smaller detail. I am very positive and try to push students as fast as they absorb the information. I feel it is hard to enjoy a subject if you do not understand it or see how it effects you. A Little Bit About Me...

During my study towards at BS in Chemistry I published a paper with a professor doing electrochemical research. I currently work at a small manufacturing company where I purchase raw materials, formulate products, supervise the manufacturing process and check the quality of the end product. Through my studies and work I have learned to apply analytical thinking to real world problems for results. When I was in high school, I was in a program where I tutored new students. They were students who were struggling with their grades, and I was able to help them. Also, in college I was a lab assistant. In this role, I set up the experiments as well as advise the students. I have twenty years of experience in a chemistry laboratory setting, and I feel that with my background I can teach students.

A Little Bit About Me...

I graduated from a small liberal arts college. There I had my eyes opened to a whole new world of thinking and learning. I received my Bachelors degree in physical education with a minor in coaching. I have a special teaching certificate from the state of Illinois that allows me to teach K-12. I have 6 years of experience working with children of all age, race, and backgrounds. I have been substituting for the past two years at various school districts at various positions.
My teaching style is to get all the children involved with the lesson. I feel that students learn better when they are the ones doing the problem at hand and I am there to help them out along the way.
