Physics is a challenging subject and it requires understanding of concpets, application of mathematics and anlytical reasoning. My style is to help students learn how to catch fish rather feeding them fish. I give emphasis on helping students develop their own reasoning, so that they can become independent learners.I usually explain concpets first and teach them how to apply these concpets for problem solving. Once they are good at understanding concpets, problem solving becomes easy. As a University of Notre Dame graduate, I was very much driven to achieve a high level of excellence in education. I have earned two bachelor degrees, BA in Economics and BS in Mathematics, and a master's degree, MA in Secondary Education. All three degrees have enabled me to effectively teach high school for fifteen years at three outstanding high schools: Saint Ignatius College Prep (Chicago, IL - 6 years,) Cardinal Gibbons (Raleigh, NC - 7 years,) and Brother Rice (Chicago, IL - 2 years.) A Little Bit About Me...

I have been teaching for 25 years. I began as a high-school teacher, taught grade school and special education, and then spent 20 years as a university professor of English and philosophy. I started tutoring as a graduate student and have been doing it on and off now for 20 years.
I like working with grade-school students, but I like best a variety of teaching situations. That for me truly represents the challange of teaching. Only a diversity of students can bring learning to itself, reveal the demands of cognition for what they are. As a philosophy PhD this interests me very much.
