I feel my career in social work has allowed me to become more centered on compassion as a means of education, and engaging the child in the learning process while being compassionate. My teaching style has evolved as I gained more experience. I have always been interactive with students in the classroom through projects, cases, and role-playing. In later years, I have made extensive use of materials and videos on the Internet. For example, when working one-on-one with a learner, I have found it effective to use interesting questions and problems which require the learner to work through the material. I support this with videos on the Internet that either introduce and describe the material or demonstrate to the learner that he or she has learned the material.
Taught many different finance and economics courses from 1967 to 2001 at Valparaiso University, Bowling Green State University, the University of Southern California, and Iowa State University.
