A Little Bit About Me...

The main purpose of tutoring is the development of strong study skills. When students are unable to solve a particular problem, they usually have not been able to understand the basic concepts needed to find the solution. By learning strategies to analyze the information given, students are more capable to solve different problems on their own.
I have worked as a tutor in a program called Tutoring Tables, where students attended to obtain help in various subjects. My responsibilities consisted of helping students with questions and homework, organizing study sessions, and providing guidance to improve study skills. The subjects under my expertise are Biology and Chemistry; however, my academic background has provided me with strong knowledge in math and other sciences. More About This Tutor...

Most of my adult life has been spent in the arena of teaching and mentoring. My undergraduate degree, a B.S. in Biology, was largely a platform for the many other courses taken in order to teach mathematics and sciences more effectively. Even after I had moved professionally from teaching to military chaplaincy, much of my focus has been on mentoring others. My range of personal experience is wide, having taught or tutored the range from basic mathematics to differential equations, earth science to physics, with Latin and Greek tossed in for good measure.
I have a teaching style which refer to as "narrative." All memorable education takes place in the context of its history and personal usefulness.
