I don't believe in one set teaching style. I think each student requires a personalized teaching style and I would try to accommodate each student personally.
I have previously, and am currently, tutoring a fourth grade student with his spelling and math. I graduated from Auburn High School with a 3.8 GPA. I have an ACT score of 30. I am a National Achievement Semifinalist because of my PSAT scores and am waiting to find out if my SAT scores were high enough to qualify as a finalist. I will be attending UAB in the Fall of 2013. I send or give websites for the students to print practice question packets and do as homework to review and check together to go over mistakes.
I have tutored ACT two sophomores and English to an 8th grade a few months back. I tutored almost every day during my senior year in high school based off of what I had gone through preparing for both SAT and ACT (35 ACT math/ 800 SAT math/ 800 SAT subject test math level 2/ AP Calculus AB (5) ). My teaching style with younger children is to have a relaxed setting where no pressure in placed upon the student. I'm always sure to review my material before going into a new lecture. When a student is not understanding the material I try to use many methods for then to gain a better understanding. I am a fall graduate from Troy University and will be graduating with honors. I am currently a peer tutor at Troy in biology and math (algebra). I have tutored privately before in high school math (algebra and geometry. I graduated 9th in my high school with honors earning an advanced diploma with an honor's seal.
