Master's Level Tutuor- Looking to help our Youth

I have worked with many children and adolescents, for the past 8 years, mentoring and tutoring. I enjoy working with our youth and feel that education is very important, especially in today's society. I understand that each individual learns differently, and that it is important to cater to each individual's needs. I also feel that learning can be fun, as well. I have always valued education. I can remember comparing grades and discussing what we learned in class as early as 2nd grade. We had a healthy competitive spirit that helped us grown into productive adults. I first began tutoring in an afterschool program in 1995. I have always loved assisting students with learning. I firmly believe that I am a student-centered educator. My ego is not involved in what I am doing. Each child learns in a different manner. A teacher's job is that of finding out how each student learns and then developing lessons that benefit each student. The same applies to tutoring. It is my job to find out how this person I am tutoring learns. Then I get after assisting this student to learn as he or she learns best. Most people learn by doing - in some way.
